Happy Owl Media, Inc. is a Brooklyn based documentary, docuseries and children's media Production Company that was founded by partners Kathy Minton and Pauline Mason. Recently, Stephanie and Suzanne Jones joined the team as Creator/Producers.
With over 20 years of combined production experience and 300 hours of television shows, Happy Owl Media prides itself on great storytelling, compelling characters and cinematic style.
Our clients include Investigation Discovery, OWN, Oxygen, Nickelodeon and Travel Channel.
THE TEAM
Kathy Minton is an Executive Producer/Showrunner involved in all aspects of production, including development, writing and art direction. She has created and produced multiple series, documentaries and award winning childrens' programming. Highlights include:
Launching networks and shows. Part of original team that launched Oxygen, with Oprah and Carsey Werner. Created and showran ID's first flagship show, "The Shift", which ran for 26 episodes and 3 seasons. Part of the original team to launch NextNewNetworks which sold to YouTube/Google.
Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer for 86 episodes of Nickelodeon's "Gullah Gullah Island". A show that Buzzfeed calls "the only kid show that matters."
Winning awards including Emmy nomination, Webby, Gracie, NAACP Image nomination, WIN nomination and multiple Parent's Choice Gold awards.
Pauline Mason is an Executive Producer and Post Production Supervisor who also writes, supervises field production and develops shows. Highlights include:
Running post for multiple productions and networks, including Oxygen, and most recently, Emmy nominated and 2020 Critic's Choice Award winner "Somebody Feed Phil" for Netflix.
Hiring and managing multiple production crews and editors around the globe.
THE JONES TWINS
Creators/Producers
Stephanie Jones & Suzanne Jones create content for TV, digital media and stage. For Universal Kids network, they consulted on their brand re-launch and created original pre-school music series concepts. They developed series pitches for Sprout, Disney Interactive Studios, Sesame Workshop/HBO, Thirteen/WNET and Out of the Blue Enterprises.
As producers for film and television, Stephanie has worked on production teams for director Spike Lee and kids’ network Nickelodeon (Daytime Emmy nomination). She co-created the family lifestyle segment Brooklyn Love with Jiji Jones showing the “new Brooklyn” from a kid’s POV, for Brooklyn’s digital TV network BRIC TV.
Suzanne was a producer on FXX Network’s critically acclaimed comedy series Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. As a producer at People Magazine TV, she wrote an animated segment for Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan produced in collaboration with Warner Bros. Classic Animation. At Nuvo TV (now Fuse Media), Suzanne co-developed comedy and docu-series. Suzanne was a staff writer and voice actor for No Evil Animation, and has done national commercial voiceovers as a voice artist represented by ICM agency.
Also songwriters, the Jones Twins created songs for legendary music producer Malcolm MacLaren (Charm School) and musicals with composer/poet Janice Lowe
(Lil Budda, Barbicide). They have also created devised musical theatre with K-3rd graders in NYC public schools and arts programs.
They got their start performing as The Jones Twins creating their critically acclaimed autobiographical musical performance piece The Jones Twins Do Bebop Muzak presented at The New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theatre, Aaron Davis Hall, Dixon Place and Smithsonian Institute’s National African American Museum Project.
Suzanne has an MFA from TV Writers Studio - LIU Steiner. Stephanie is a graduate of Howard University and NYU Tisch Graduate Music Theatre Writing.
